By selecting tables made by Oakworks® and offered by OsteopathicTables.com, you will purchase the finest tables available today for Osteopathic Medical Students. You will also be selecting a table made by the same company that provided the tables used at the Olympics in Athens for the United State's teams and at the Olympic Village. As there are no industry standards to help compare tables from different manufacturers, your task is not easy. Many tables look alike, but looks can be deceptive. Advertisements can be misleading. For example, many manufacturers advertise a "dynamic working weight". But how were their tables tested?
Oakworks® tests both prototype and production tables before and after manufacture. And here's exactly how. To test for a maximum working load, weights are dropped from a six inch height onto the weakest part of the folding table, usually the "fold" or center of the table, to simulate a large, heavy patient getting on and off the table.
The integrated patented hinge design used in the Oakworks® tables reinforces the tables to support heavier loads, surpassing what the commonly used "piano hinge" can accommodate.
Oakworks® tests each piece of their tables for strength and durability. This includes leg extensions, cables, connections, joints, bolts, braces and hinges.
After manufacture, a "pounding" test is performed on randomly-selected tables. Two hundred fifty pounds are lowered onto the center of the table over 9,000 times to simulate the repeated mounting and dismounting of patients.
When tables made by competing manufacturers were brought to Oakworks® for testing, many of them failed the test or even collapsed during the testing process! They did not match their makers' claims.
Before leaving the factory, every Oakworks® table is given a"final test"-- fourteen hundred pounds of pressure are applied to the entire table top.
In short, you and your patients will not be the first ones to test your table.
When I decided to refine my OMM skills, I realized I would need a new portable, lightweight folding table to replace the ancient heavy table I had kept from my student days. I wanted adequate room for my knees so when I sat at the table I could work without unnecessary strain. That meant that at least one end of the table, as well as the sides, had to be open. I also required a table that was easy to set up and take down.
I looked at many tables made by different manufacturers.
After much research, I finally found the table that came closest to my ideal, but was amazed to discover there was no one selling it in my home town! I wanted to buy one and to make them available to the Osteopathic community.
Oakworks® is an American manufacturer with a fine long standing national and international reputation in the surgical and massage communities.
I have negotiated a program with Oakworks® that enables me to discount the cost of an Osteopathic-friendly table that meets all of the requirements mentioned above.
Yours truly,
